Kolkata Knight Riders have booked their berth in the IPL 2024 Final with a comprehensive victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday (May 21).
The Qualifier 1 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium was dominated by the Knight Riders, who secured qualification for their 4th Final after an 8-wicket victory over the Orange Army.

Kolkata Knight Riders lost the Toss and SRH captain Pat Cummins chose to bat first. It was a disastrous start for SRH though, who lost their openers early. Travis Head was dismissed in the second ball of the match for a duck, and Abhishek Sharma didn't last long as he departed after scoring just 3 runs.
Mitchell Starc showed his worth with a fiery spell as SRH lost two more within powerplay, tottering at 45 for 4 at the end of six overs. The Australian picked up 3 wickets in his first spell within the fielding restrictions to break the SRH backbone.
Rahul Tripathi and Heinrich Klaasen stitched a fantastic partnership of 62 runs in just 37 balls for 5th wicket, but Klaasen's wicket opened the gate for KKR again. Varun Chakravarthy picked up two wickets as the Orange Army were reduced to 126 for 19. Captain Pat Cummins and Vijaykanth Viyaskanth added 33 valuable runs as Hyderabad reached 159 runs before getting bundled out in 19.3 overs.
In the run chase, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine provided a lightning-quick start to the Knight Riders. Gurbaz scored 23 runs before Natarajan got his wicket, while Narine managed 21 runs as well. SRH were guilty of dropping catches but KKR were way ahead of the game.
Venkatesh Iyer and KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer took the sting out of the game with a superb partnership. Venkatesh scored 51 off just 28 balls, while Shreyas also made merry way and finished with an unbeaten 58 off just 24 balls as KKR won the match with more than six overs to spare.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: 159 all out in 19.3 overs (Rahul Tripathi 55, Heinrich Klaasen 32; Mitchell Starc 3/34)
Kolkata Knight Riders: 164/2 in 13.4 overs (Shreyas Iyer 58*, Venkatesh Iyer 51* ; T Natarajan 1/22)
Result: KKR won by 8 wickets
KKR will be in the Final of the IPL 2024 on Sunday (May 26) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. SRH still have a chance to make it to the Final as they will take on the winner of Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Qualifier 2.
