Kolkata Knight Riders produced a dominant all-round display to thrash Sunrisers Hyderabad by 80 runs in their IPL 2025 clash at Eden Gardens.
Put in to bat, KKR posted an imposing 200/6, riding on a blazing 60 off 29 balls from Venkatesh Iyer-his third consecutive fifty against SRH. Youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi impressed with a composed 50 off 32, while Rinku Singh finished strong with a quickfire 36* off 18. Contributions from Ajinkya Rahane (38) ensured a consistent flow of runs despite regular wickets.

SRH's chase unraveled early as they crumbled to 9/3 within the first three overs. The top order folded under pressure, and apart from Kamindu Mendis (25) and Heinrich Klaasen (12), no batter looked settled. KKR's bowlers were relentless-Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakaravarthy picked up three wickets each, while Sunil Narine and Andre Russell chipped in to bowl SRH out for 120 in 16.4 overs.
The result marked KKR's most convincing win of the season so far, boosting their net run rate and placing them firmly in the playoff conversation. Venkatesh Iyer was named Player of the Match for his explosive knock that set the tone for the night.
With both bat and ball firing in sync, KKR look like serious contenders, while SRH will need to regroup quickly to get their campaign back on track.
There were a few significant moments which shifted the match in KKR's favour. Venkatesh Iyer played a magnificent knock while Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi were also key in KKR's prowess. But the Turning Point of the match was KKR's bowling, which pulled the tie in their favour early on in the run chase.
It was Vaibhav Arora who shown dominance to get the early breakthrough for the defending champions. He sent Travis Head packing in the very first over and then picked up Ishan Kishan in his very next, courtesy of two excellent catches from Harshit Rana and Ajinkya Rahane respectively. Harshit Rana also got the wicket of Abhishek Sharma and those early blows broke the back of the SRH chase. It was those excellent pace bowling early on which aided and bolstered the effect of the KKR spinner duo.
