KL Rahul has been officially ruled out of the fourth Test in Ranchi due to the quadriceps injury he suffered in the first game of the series in Hyderabad. The BCCI confirmed the development in a press release on Monday.
The right-hand batter was expected to make a comeback in the third Test. A BCCI release ahead of the match in Rajkot had stated that Rahul had achieved 90 percent match fitness and that he had been progressing well at National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

The 31-year-old is also in doubt for the fifth Test in Dharamsala now. In Rahul's absence, his Karnataka teammate Devdutt Padikkal has managed to retain his place for the Ranchi Test which starts from Friday, February 23.
"KL Rahul is ruled out of the 4th Test. His participation in the final Test match in Dharamsala is subject to fitness," the BCCI releases said.
Jasprit Bumrah rested
Jasprit Bumrah has finally been given a break to manage his workload management. Bumrah played the first three Tests and picked 17 wickets at an average of 13.65. England spinner Tom Hartley is second in the list of highest wicket-takers. He has picked 16 wickets at an average of 33.19. Bumrah is the only pacer in the top five list.
Mukesh Kumar rejoins India squad
Further, Mukesh Kumar has returned to the India squad after being released ahead of the third Test to play for Bengal against Bihar. Mukesh registered his career-best match figures of 10 for 50 in the match. His Bengal teammate Akash Deep is the third pacer in the team.
