KL Rahul has been tipped to make a move from Delhi Capitals (DC) to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the IPL 2026 season via a trade deal.
KKR, fresh off a disappointing 2025 IPL season and having parted ways with their head coach Chandrakant Pandit and bowling coach Bharat Arun, are aiming for a major squad overhaul and see Rahul as a key figure for rebuilding.

As per a report of Times of India, KKR is reportedly very keen on acquiring Rahul and is even willing to offer a substantial amount, rumored to be up to ₹25 crore, recognizing his value not just as a top-order batsman but also as a potential captain and wicketkeeper. They are looking to fill the captaincy void after Ajinkya Rahane led them unsuccessfully last season. Rahul's versatility as a skilled batter, wicketkeeper, and leader makes him a coveted asset to restore balance in KKR's side.
Rahul has been one of the most consistent IPL players, ranking as the seventh highest run-scorer in IPL history, with a strong record at KKR's home ground Eden Gardens, which further supports the rationale behind this move. The trade is highly anticipated, though it is uncertain if Delhi Capitals are willing to release him easily.
The switch would mark an important new chapter in Rahul's IPL career, potentially giving him the captaincy role he has not had with Delhi, while KKR aims to regain the championship form they showed in IPL 2024. The Knight Riders have recently been linked with a move for Ishan Kishan as well, as they are expected to trade Venkatesh Iyer with Sunrisers Hyderbad for the Jharkhand player.
In IPL 2025, KL Rahul played 13 matches for Delhi Capitals, scoring 539 runs with an average of 53.90 and an impressive strike rate of 149.72. His highest score was an unbeaten 112*. He hit 3 fifties, 52 fours, and 21 sixes, showcasing his strong and consistent batting performance throughout the season.
