KL Rahul Reigns Supreme, Beats Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma In Overseas Tests - Here's How

KL Rahul's calm and composed 84-run innings in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia earned widespread acclaim on Tuesday, December 17 in Brisbane.

His knock was a standout performance amidst India's top-order woes, demonstrating exceptional patience and accuracy under intense pressure.

The Delhi Capitals man accumulated 231 runs across five innings in the series, emerging as a key performer for India. His graceful shot selection, paired with sharp decision-making in leaving deliveries, stood out, especially on a testing Day 4 surface. Although he was given a lifeline after being dropped on the first ball of the day, Rahul made the most of the opportunity, building his innings with resilience and focus.

He brought up his fifty in 85 balls and appeared well on track for a well-deserved century before Steve Smith ended his stay with a sensational catch, leaving him on 84.

With this performance at the Gabba, he now stands out as a better player than his teammates and two of the greatest batters in this generation, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, when it comes to performing in overseas conditions in Tests.

Out of the 3212 runs KL Rahul has amassed in his Test career, only 1149 have come on home soil, with the remaining runs-approximately 64%-scored in overseas conditions. In comparison, Virat Kohli has accumulated 4710 runs in Tests played outside India, which accounts for roughly 52% of his total tally. Meanwhile, captain Rohit Sharma has registered 1632 runs in overseas matches, making up about 38% of his career total.

SENA Countries

Since making his Test debut in 2014, Rahul has the most number of 80+ scores (6) in SENA nations compared to all other Indian openers, who all have a combined total of 5.

Rahul displayed exceptional poise and versatility, establishing himself as India's most dependable batter in challenging overseas conditions. His knack for handling pressure and stabilizing the innings has earned him comparisons to legendary cricketers, solidifying his role as a vital asset for India in this series.
