'Let's win IPL Together': DC co-owner Parth Jindal reveals what KL Rahul said after IPL 2025 Auction

By MyKhel Staff

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has had a positive talk with KL Rahul after the Indian batter was bought by the franchise at the IPL 2025 auction.

The Capitals managed to get KL Rahul at a very modest price of Rs 14 crore, far lesser than their two other failed targets Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant - who were sold to Punjab Kings (Rs 26.75 crore) and Lucknow Super Giants (Rs 27 crore) respectively.

Rahul himself switched sides after leaving Lucknow Super Giants. And the Delhi Capitals co-owner said he had a positive talk with Rahul, whom he knows from their Bengaluru connection.

"He's very happy, very excited to be part of Delhi. He knows me for a long time. He's a Bangalore (Bengaluru) boy. I own Bengaluru FC (in ISL), so he's watched a few games with me. I know his wife Athiya (Shetty) really well. She's been a close family friend growing up in Mumbai," Jindal said to ESPN Cricinfo.

The Delhi co-owner also revealed that Rahul just wants to have the respect and support from the franchise, underlying his unceremonious departure from the LSG side.

"So he (Rahul) was like, 'I just want to play cricket. I just want to get the love and support from the franchise. I just want to get the respect and I know Parth from you, I will get that and just can't be more excited to play for a friend and let's make Delhi win. I have never won (IPL). Delhi has never won. Let's do it together,'" the DC co-owner added.

When asked about the captaincy, Jindal couldn't confirm if the Karnataka batter will be their new leader. The Capitals retained Axar Patel and his longevity with the franchise also makes the all-rounder a contender for the leadership role.

The Delhi Capitals owner believes Rahul's consistency with the bat and calm demeanour will bring stability at the top of their batting order, and the Indian player's versatility gives them a certain flexibility.

"He will thrive at the Kotla, given the size of the ground. He also gives us flexibility: he can bat anywhere in the top four, and that's a very rare skill for someone to have. He's also great senior player to have in the dressing room, a great mind of the game as well," he further added.

KL Rahul so far has represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL - three of those four have never won an IPL title. It is to be seen if Delhi Capitals sparks a mutual upheaval.
