Kl Rahul is all set to leave the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and explore opportunities elsewhere in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The wicketkeeper-batter and the Sanjeev Goenka-owned franchise have reportedly reached a conclusion.
As per CricBlogger, KL Rahul is unlikely to be retained by LSG and enter the IPL 2025 mega auction as one of the biggest high-profile players. The 32-year-old has played 132 IPL matches till date and scored 4683 runs including four hundreds and 37 fifties.

The star batter has also led Punjab Kings in the past, and has most recently been linked to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who are on a lookout for a new captain after 40-year-old Faf du Plessis' failure to delivery the trophy in three attempts.
In a recent video which went viral, Rahul smiled and said 'let's hope so' when requested by an RCB to play for the Bengaluru-based team in the IPL 2025. During India's first Test against New Zealand as well, fans were heard chanting 'RCB captain KL Rahul'.
KL Rahul has played for the RCB in the past, and the chance of a reunion cannot be ruled out. M Chinnswamy is the home ground of the Karnataka batter, and returning to play in a familiar territory could also be a smart decision to resurrect his T20 career.
The senior batter was not included in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad despite his heroics in the ODI World Cup 2023. Rahul was LSG's top-scorer in IPL 2024. He scored 520 runs, however he still coped criticism for his slow strike. Further, Sanjeev Goenka animated chat with KL Rahul after LSG's humiliating defeat in Hyderabad had also gone viral.
KL Rahul recently met the owner in Kolkata, and the meeting was a formal gesture to close their professional relationship. Goenka had denied confirming Rahul's retention after the meeting even though he called him 'family'.
With KL Rahul's parting ways with LSG almost confirmed, it would be interesting to see what IPL holds in the future for one of India's most talented cricketers.
