India batter and Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul had a formal meeting with LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka on Monday (August 26).
KL Rahul travelled to Kolkata to meet at Goenka's office, their first since Sanjeev Goenka's heated altercation with Rahul in an IPL 2024 match after LSG's defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

After the reported fallout, the widespread thinking is that KL Raul will leave LSG in IPL 2025. The new cycle of IPL is coming soon. It is likely that the player may not be willing to continue with Lucknow Super Giants, and he has been tipped to make a move to Royal Challengers Bengaluru and take over the captaincy at his hometown franchise.
But KL Rahul's meeting with Sanjeev Goenka has altered the speculations. Although nothing specific has come to light, a report from Cricbuzz says that Lucknow Super Giants are interested in retaining KL Rahul, but the player's camp hasn't decided anything.
KL Rahul spent at the office for an hour and the report says their talk was mainly regarding the team combination and selections ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Although BCCI hasn't provided any clarity on retention, it is to be seen if KL Rahul remains on the retention list at his current franchise.
Rahul's stint with LSG completed three years in IPL 2024. During his stint, LSG have qualified for two playoffs, albeit missing the latest one this year. If the 32-year-old remains at Lucknow next year, it will be a big boost for the franchise.
