About Nelson

Nelson sits on the shores of Tasman Bay at the top of the South Island. It is also the geographical centre of New Zealand. Established in 1841, it is the second-oldest settled city in New Zealand and the oldest in the South Island.

Stadium Information

Saxton Oval, located in the Saxton Field complex (also known as Saxton Field) was constructed following the move of the Nelson Cricket Association.

A new pavilion was added in 2011 and is now the home of representative cricket, athletics and football.

The unique cylindrical shaped building features internal spaces that work independently of the outer shell and provide international standard cricket facilities, public toilets, administration, bar and kitchen, timekeeping and storage facilities.
