With regular wicketkeeper and captain MS Dhoni going off the field for some reason at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Kohli took the big gloves and stood behind the stumps as paceman Umesh Yadav ran in and bowled the 44th over. At the time, the hosts were 264/5.
When Dhoni took off the gloves and pads, many thought he was about to bowl but it was not the case. (Fans angry with Dhoni for pushing young bowler)
Kohli, who has previously bowled in international cricket and also today, took over as India's new stumper albeit for 6 balls and also was handed the captaincy responsibilities with Dhoni not on the field. Dhoni returned to take his position after just 1-over break.
With Dhoni absent from the field of play, Ambati Rayudu walked in to do the fielding duties.
It was a day when Kohli did a Dhoni - keeping wickets, captaining, bowling and later set to bat in the run chase.
