KOL vs CHE Dream11 prediction, IPL 2023: Fantasy Suggestions, Predicted Playing 11, impact substitute options

KOL vs CHE Dream11 prediction: Kolkata Knight Riders will square off with Chennai Super Kings in match 33 of the IPL 2023 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. The match is the second of Sunday's doubleheader and will start at 7:30 PM IST.

Kolkata Knight Riders will be desperate to get their IPL 2023 campaign back on track after losing three matches on the go. Their latest defeat came against the season's bogey team Delhi Capitals, who registered their first win after five losses.

Chennai Super Kings are on a two-match winning run with comfortable victories over Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively. They will also have an opportunity go top of the table as their points tally will go to 10 with a win. To their advantage, they enjoy a 17-9 head-to-head over KKR and have won three of their last four games against them as well.

KOL vs CHE injury update

KOL injury update Shardul Thakur is expected to return to the lineup after missing out on the last game.

KOL key players Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, and Venkatesh Iyer are in good form this season but the latest has struggled to maintain consistency. KKR opening combinations haven't worked but Jason Roy showed promise with a gritty knock of 43 on a slow Kotla surface. Litton Das failed to impress with his batting and glovework in the last game but has been in good form with his national team in the recent past.

Andre Russell has made an impact with the bat in the last two games and adds further stability to the lower middle order. Notably, Russell bowled well in his last game at the Eden too when other pacers went for runs, including Shardul Thakur. However, Thakur's batting remains vital in the death overs for the side as he adds extra firepower.

Among bowlers, Varun Chakravarthy has been the wicket-taker with nine dismissals to his name and has been effective at Eden Gardens. Rookie spinner Suyash Sharma didn't feature in the last game but has seven wickets to his name in four games. He has intra-competition with another young spinner Anukul Roy, who impressed with two wickets in the last game.

Out of form KKR pacers have been a big disappointment this season with none of Umesh Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee and Thakur doing the job with the ball. Spinner Sunil Narine has gone without wickets in the last three games. Among batters, N Jagadeeshan and Rahmanullah Gurbaz haven't fired at the top and have lost their places in the playing 11.

CHE injury update Ben Stokes and Deepak Chahar have returned to training and are available for selection. There is no further update on Dhoni's knee injury. Sisanda Magala and Simarjeet Singh remain uncertain for the game.

CHE key players Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway continue to score runs at the top with the latter also scoring back-to-back half-centuries. Ajinkya Rahane had a bad outing in the last game but has scored runs consistently before that. Shivam Dube is likely to return to the line-up after not playing the last game.

Among bowlers, Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja have been in good wicket-taking form with 10 and 9 dismissals respectively. Matheesha Pathirana has impressed with his bowling in the last couple of games and could be a headache for KKR with his slinging action. His compatriot Maheesh Theekshana could come in handy on turning Eden track too. The same goes for Moeen Ali while pacer Akash Singh had a good outing on his debut with a spell of 1/17 (3 overs).

Out of form Ambati Rayudu is yet to fire substantial runs this season.

KOL vs CHE pitch report

The Eden Gardens has been known to be batting-friendly, but has provided some assistance for pacers at the start of play and slower bowlers as the game progresses. However, the venue has seen three innings of four end with totals over 200 so far this season.

The average score batting first in IPL at the venue is 158. The IPL record at the venue shows that teams batting second have had the most success so far. But the two matches in 2023 have seen the team defend win the match.
