Kolkata Knight Riders Predicted XI: Three-time champions IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, are gearing up for their season opener against arch nemesis Mumbai Indians. Both sides have met 35 times in the past, out of which the Knights have only managed to win 11 times, while the Mumbai Indians have won 23 times.
To add to the problems of KKR this season are the plethora of injury concerns that Shah Rukh Khan's side is facing this year. KKR already is without the services of Harshit Rana, who is out of the entire IPL season due to a knee injury. To make matters worse, KKR also does not have clarity on the return of Matheesh Pathirana, who had been brought from the CSK for a whopping sum of 18 cr.

The Sri Lankan fast bowler sustained a hamstring injury during the match against Australia, which forced him to leave the field midway through his spell. The discomfort was evident as he struggled to complete his run-up, prompting immediate attention from the team physio. Following an on-field assessment, he was taken off as a precautionary measure to avoid aggravating the injury. Later on, he was ruled out of the entire tournament.
However, amid this topsy-turvy build-up for the Knight Riders, there are a few positives for the franchise. The top order and middle-order showed encouraging signs during the intra-squad practice matches on March 19 and 23, with the batters getting valuable time in the middle and building rhythm ahead of the season.
There were also promising contributions from finishers, indicating depth in the batting unit, while a few bowlers impressed with disciplined spells, giving the team management confidence despite ongoing concerns around availability and injuries.
