Shakib, who had played an important role in his country's winning match, revealed, “It was very emotional day for all of us. Mashrafe is no doubt a huge figure in Bangladesh cricket. Naturally, his retirement from T-20 international had made all of us very nostalgic."

Shakib had an impressive show in his country's thrilling win against Sri Lanka with both bat (38 off 31 balls) and ball (three wickets) also looked highly optimistic over his IPL team's success this season.

Even he supported his skipper Gautam Gambhir's aim to set a record by winning the IPL thrice.

Bangladesh all rounder added, “We are the most balanced side this season. If you look at bowling, batting a well as towards the fielding potential we are the front runners in the race for the title. More importantly, being in the runs against Sri Lanka in the team's last match has increased my confidence to play important role in the IPL also."

When informed that the wicket at the Eden Gardens that it might be green top, Shakib added, “It might be. But at the same time, I do not feel that our spinners will not at all get support from the pitch. So, if they get little help from the pitch, they will simply destroy the opponents."

Shakib, however, has rated Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Lions as one of the contenders of the ongoing league.

Shakib said, “Mumbai Indians always make poor start. But as the League progresses they start performing. So they must be cared."
