Bengaluru, Aug 6: With the 5th edition of the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) Twenty20 tournament set to start next month, the teams have announced their set of players retained ahead of the players' auction for the new season.

As expected, top players like Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey, Karun Nair, R Vinay Kumar and others have been retained by their franchisees. (Bijapur crowned 2015 champions)
KPL tournament will be held in 2 phases, in Mysuru (September 16 to 25) and Hubballi (September 27 to October 1). The 7 teams have been permitted to retain a maximum of 4 players each ahead of the player auction to be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadim premises on August 10 at 2 PM. The teams have a purse of Rs 20 lakh a piece. The 4 players are retained for the same amount that they were sold last year.
The money for the retained players will come from the Rs 12 lakh allocated for a maximum of five group A players. The maximum amount permissible to be spent on Group B players is Rs 8 lakh. However, any sum remaining after the auction of Group A players can be carried forward to the Group B kitty.
