Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) may not have an IPL title to their name, but their massive and devoted fanbase remains unmatched in the world of cricket.
However, the franchise's lack of an IPL trophy was the subject of a cheeky exchange recently when Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav took a hilarious dig at an RCB supporter during a live YouTube podcast.

Kuldeep, an ardent football fan and a staunch supporter of FC Barcelona, was discussing his passion for the sport when an RCB fan decided to troll him. The fan, under the name "RCB management," used the podcast's Super Chat feature to say, "Kuldeep bhai, RCB me aa jao; ek goalkeeper ki jarurat hai." (Kuldeep, bro, join RCB; we need a goalkeeper.)
The spinner, who has been retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, delivered a brilliant comeback. He replied, "Tumhe goalkeeper ki nahi, trophy ki jarurat hai mere bhai. Goalkeeper kya karoge?" (You don't need a goalkeeper; you need a trophy. What will you do with a goalkeeper?)
The witty response quickly went viral on social media, sparking a mix of amusement and outrage among RCB fans. Many took to platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to respond, prompting Kuldeep to post a tongue-in-cheek clarification: "Chill yaar RCB fans... Trophy apki hai. Par me goalkeeper nahi hu." (Relax, RCB fans... The trophy is yours. But I'm not a goalkeeper.)
RCB has come agonizingly close to lifting the IPL trophy in the past, most notably in 2016, when they fell short against SunRisers Hyderabad in the final. Despite consistent playoff appearances in recent years, the coveted title has remained elusive. The franchise is yet to announce its captain for IPL 2025, but reports suggest that Virat Kohli is likely to take up the leadership role again.
Kuldeep, meanwhile, has been steadily working his way back to full fitness after undergoing hernia surgery in November 2024. The left-arm spinner has been training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to rebuild his bowling rhythm. Recently, he was included in India's squad for the upcoming ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy, signaling his return to competitive cricket.
