Kumble optimistic about playing good cricket

By Staff
Chennai, Mar 25: Team India captain Anil Kumble today reiterated that the three-Test series against South Africa would be remembered for good cricket, rather than sledging battles on the field.

''The ICC has not written any letter personally to me, but cricket will be played in the right spirit here, eventhough a healthy banter is always welcome on the cricket field. But what happens on the field must remain on the field,'' he said at a pre-match press conference after team India had another session at the nets.''Our players know where to draw the line...we will definitely play that way,'' Kumble said, answering questions about sledging.''It is something which happens at the spur of the moment,'' he pointed out.

Asked if he had reached any agreement with the Match Referee on controversial decisions, especially catches, the Karnataka leg spinner said ''we have not discussed anything so far. Certainly, it will be taken up at the Referees meeting. We will go by ICC rules.''
