Kumble, Ponting win CEAT Cricket Rating Lifetime Achievement Award

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) India's highest wicket-taker, in both forms of the game, Anil Kumble and Australian captain Ricky Ponting won the 'CEAT Cricket Rating Lifetime Achievement Award' along with a cash prize of 5000 dollars, at a glittering ceremony in Mumbai today.

According to information received here, Team India received a cash award of Rs 15 lakh for winning the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa last month, while Australia won the CEAT International Cricket Team award along with a cash prize of 10,000 dollars.

Sri Lanka's champion off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan won the CEAT International Cricketer award and CEAT International Bowler awards which had a cash prize of 7,500 dollars and 5000 dollars respectively while Mahela Jayawardene bagged the CEAT International Batsman award with a prize money of 5000 dollars.

The Lifetime Achievement award recipients have been selected on the basis of the Retro-CEAT cricket ratings, and have taken into consideration the performances of Indian and Australian players in mutual test matches since 1947.

Eminent cricketers from India and Australia were present at the awards function besides the glitterati of Mumbai.
