IPL 2023: Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan's strong friendship bond was again on display during the match number 46 of the IPL 2023 at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Wednesday. Rohit, the Mumbai Indians captain and his Punjab Kings counterpart Shikhar Dhawan share a light moment at toss.

Rohit called it right after home captain Dhawan flipped the coin. Soon after the Mumbai captain was heard asking Dhawan, " Kya karu bata?" Dhawan can be seen smiling all the while in the video.

“I asked Shikhar what should I do? He said you guys bowl first, so we are gonna bowl first," Rohit told cricketer-turned-commentator Anjum Chopra after being asked about his decision.

Later, Dhawan said that he would have wanted to bowl first as well.

"We would have bowled first."

Notably, Dhawan and Rohit opened together 115 times in ODIs and scored 5148 runs at an average of 45.55. The numbers are fourth best in the list of most successful opening pair in history of ODI cricket.

Explaining his decision to bowl first, Rohit explained that MI have done well chasing and so the team would stick to their strength. Notably, Mumbai gunned down 213 in their last match against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

“It's a good pitch, we have chased down targets pretty well, so will stick to our strengths. You always want to have a score in front of you on such pitches.”
