The Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024 is set to be broadcast live from Sri Lanka by Star Sports between July 1 and 21. The Indian audience will have exclusive access to the thrilling cricket action through Star Sports' coverage.

The LPL has not only provided exciting matches but also helped develop talented Sri Lankan cricketers since its inception, according to Anil Mohan Sankhdhar, Founder and CEO of IPG Group, the official rights holder of LPL. He praised Star Sports for their commitment to elevating the league and delivering high-quality content to fans.

Season 5: Schedule and Format

The fifth season of LPL will feature 24 matches played over 21 days, with doubleheaders on most days and single matches on three days. Day matches are scheduled to begin at 3 PM IST, while night matches will start at 7:30 PM IST. Samantha Dodewala, Tournament Director of Lanka Premier League, believes that the partnership with Star Sports will help expand the tournament's reach and contribute to its growth.

International and Local Players in LPL

The fifth edition of LPL will feature international cricketers like Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Agha Salman, Andre Fletcher, Fabian Allen, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Noor Ahmad, Rilee Rossouw, and Reeza Hendricks. Local Sri Lankan stars such as Wanindu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews, Isuru Udana, Maheesh Theekshana, and Kusal Mendis will also participate in the league.

Venues and Playoffs

LPL matches will be held across three venues—Colombo, Dambulla, and Kandy—with five teams competing: Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Sixers, Galle Marvels, Jaffna Kings, and Kandy. The league stage runs from July 1 to 16; playoffs commence in Colombo on July 18; the finals are slated for July 21.
