Lankan opener Warnapura gets ODI call

Colombo, Aug 13 (UNI) After his impressive performance in the recently concluded Test series, opener Malinda Warnapura has been included in Sri Lanka's 15-member One-day squad for the five-match series against India that gets underway next week.

The left-handed batsman will also feature in Sri Lanka XI squad, taking on the Indians in a warm-up match at the P Saranvanamuttu Stadium here on Friday.

Warnapura, who played his only ODI match against Pakistan last year, was drafted into the side after he played a key role against India scoring 243 runs at 60.75, with a hundred in the first Test here at the SSC, along with two fifties in the series, which Sri Lanka won 2-1.

The talented opener, Chamara Kapugedera, will lead the Sri Lankan XI, which includes five others, also playing in the one-day squad- Mahela Udawatte, Chamara Silva, Kaushalya Weeraratne, Dilhara Fernando and Thilan Thushara.

However, Kaushal Silva, the former Under-19 player, was named as the wicketkeeper while leg-spinner Malinda Bandara will provide slow-bowling options.
