Melbourne, Jan 19 (ANI): The teenage boy charged with stealing Sydney celebrity couple Lara Bingle and Michael Clarke's dark blue Aston Martin is a well-known criminal, a court has heard.
The 2008 coupe, worth about 250,000 dollars, was allegedly stolen from the car park of the Bondi apartment the model shares with her international cricketer fiancee.
Police found the car on New Year's Eve at South Coogee, in Sydney's east.
Fingerprints from the garage door and the couple's black Range Rover, from where a set of keys to the Aston Martin is believed to have been taken, allegedly led police to the boy.
The 15-year-old was arrested at his suburban Sydney home and was later charged with break, enter and steal, entering enclosed lands without consent and malicious damage.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced Sydney's Bidura Children's Court supported by his father and sister.
Alessandro Cavadini , the youngster's solicitor, said that the case against her client was circumstantial.
"Fingerprints were found on the exterior garage, fingerprints were also found on the exterior door of the car. There is no evidence that the young person was inside the car," News.com.au quoted her as saying.
Police documents tendered to the court said the teenager had an extensive criminal history, including 39 past breaches of bail.
"The young person is currently a 'top 10' offender in the Eastern Beaches Local Area Command," police said.
"The young person, despite being only (15) years of age, has a long and extensive history with the court.
"The young person has amassed 35 charges, ranging from violent break and enter and steals, assaults, robbery and countless steal motor vehicles," they added. (ANI)
