Ishan Kishan's explosive unbeaten 77 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy today was a reminder of his raw talent. The wicket-keeper batter smashed 5 fours and 9 sixes in a blistering 23-ball knock.

It led Jharkhand to chase down a modest 94-run target in just 4.3 overs. Kishan's childhood coach, Uttam Mazumdar, spoke exclusively about his protege's resurgence and his excitement for the IPL.

"I'm thrilled that Sunrisers Hyderabad picked Ishan in the IPL auction," said Mazumdar, reflecting on the ₹11.25 crore deal. "He's had great performances for Mumbai Indians and India in the past, and I know he'll give 200% for SRH. He's ready to take on the challenges of a new season and is genuinely excited to join the Orange Army."

Mazumdar shared insights into Kishan's journey over the past year, which included setbacks like losing his central contract and place in India's squad. However, the coach highlighted Ishan's determination to bounce back.

"The last 12 months tested him, but he kept working hard in the domestic circuit. Scoring four consecutive centuries across Duleep Trophy, Irani Cup, Rest of India, and Ranji Trophy proves his form. That's why he earned a spot in the India A squad for the Australia A Matches," he said.

Mazumdar who has had the privilege of playing alongside MS Dhoni, Deep Dasgupta, and Wasim Jaffer in the Sheesh Mahal tournament also revealed his conversation with Kishan post-auction.

"I congratulated him, and he humbly replied, 'It's all because of your blessings.' That shows his grounded nature despite his achievements." Kishan, who has amassed 2,644 IPL runs with a strike rate of 135.87, is now looking forward to a new chapter with SRH.

Mazumdar summed it up perfectly: "Whatever happened last year is history. Ishan is recharged and ready to make an impact in the upcoming season." Ishan has been a part of the league since the 2016 season, with his standout performance coming in the 2020 edition.
