LLC 2024: Five Indian players making their Debut this Season in Legends Cricket League

The 2024 edition of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) is set to kick off on September 20, with several iconic Indian cricketers making their debut in the tournament.

This year's competition, featuring a total of 25 matches played across six teams, promises to be exciting with the participation of seasoned veterans like Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik, Ambati Rayudu, Dhawal Kulkarni, and Kedar Jadhav.

These players, having recently retired from international and domestic cricket, are set to take the field in a new avatar. Here's a look at the five Indian cricketers making their LLC debut this season.

1. Shikhar Dhawan (Gujarat Greats)

Shikhar Dhawan, one of India's most successful white-ball openers, recently announced his retirement from international cricket. Known for his aggressive batting at the top of the order, Dhawan amassed 6,793 runs in 167 ODIs, including 17 centuries.

He now transitions to leading Gujarat Greats in LLC 2024 and will also lead the team. Dhawan's leadership experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Indian national team will be vital for his team.

Fans will look forward to seeing his signature shots and fierce intent as he takes charge of Gujarat Greats, aiming for another accolade in his celebrated career.

2. Dinesh Karthik (Southern Superstars)

Dinesh Karthik is all set to captain the Southern Superstars in this year's LLC after retiring from all formats of cricket post IPL 2024. Karthik has been a pivotal figure in Indian cricket, with 4,842 runs in 257 IPL matches, featuring 22 half-centuries.

His swift glovework behind the stumps and middle-order aggression made him a mainstay in the IPL. Karthik's recent success in the commentary box has also earned him admiration, but his return to competitive cricket will be keenly anticipated. His experience and explosive style make him a player to watch this season.

3. Ambati Rayudu (Konark Suryas Odisha)

Ambati Rayudu, who recently played for MI Emirates in the International League T20 (ILT20) and was part of India Champions in the World Championship of Legends 2024, will represent Konark Suryas Odisha in LLC 2024.

Rayudu was instrumental in the final of the Legends tournament, scoring a half-century against Pakistan Champions. Known for his adaptability and middle-order stability, Rayudu's debut in LLC brings another dimension to his illustrious cricket career.

4. Dhawal Kulkarni (India Capitals)

Dhawal Kulkarni, a reliable medium-pacer, will be playing for India Capitals in LLC 2024 after being picked up for INR 50 lakhs in the auction. Kulkarni recently played his last first-class match in the 2023-2024 Ranji Trophy season, where he helped Mumbai secure their 42nd Ranji title by taking the final wicket.

His eight wickets in six matches during the 2024 World Championship of Legends further demonstrate his ability to perform on the big stage. Kulkarni's controlled swing bowling will be a valuable asset to India Capitals this season.

5. Kedar Jadhav (Southern Superstars)

Kedar Jadhav, the former all-rounder known for his unorthodox bowling action and middle-order prowess, has joined Southern Superstars for his LLC debut.
After announcing his retirement from all forms of cricket in June 2024, Jadhav brings a wealth of experience from his stints in various IPL teams, including Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball will be crucial for Southern Superstars in this edition.
