‘A Major Milestone’: Los Angeles Knight Riders Set for Historic First Match at New Pomona Cricket Ground
The Los Angeles Knight Riders will play their first match at the Knight Riders Cricket Ground in Pomona on July 1 against the Washington Freedom. The game will bring professional cricket to a purpose-built stadium in Los Angeles for the first time, as the franchise continues its wider USA growth plan.
The match follows work that began in April, when LAKR and Fairplex broke ground on the new venue. The Knight Riders Cricket Ground will host Major League Cricket matches from July 1 to July 5, offering T20 cricket to the greater Los Angeles area at a dedicated site.

By setting up a dedicated location in Los Angeles, the Knight Riders Group is aiming to position the region as a future hub for cricket in the country. The ground gives fans a chance to watch live professional cricket and adds to the city’s cricket infrastructure.
'Major Milestone For LAKR'- Venky Mysore Calls New Stadium Historic
Venky Mysore, CEO, Knight Riders Sports, said: 'The Knight Riders Cricket Ground is a major milestone for Los Angeles Knight Riders and a reflection of our long-term commitment to growing the game in the United States. As we continue to build the sport in this market, establishing a dedicated home venue was an important strategic priority.'
He added that the venue will help deliver a more immersive matchday experience, deepen local community engagement, and create a lasting base for cricket in the USA. LAKR now turns its focus to building a home for cricket in Southern California and supporting the continued growth of professional cricket there.
