In a dramatic low-scoring encounter at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered a humbling defeat by Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, PBKS suffered a catastrophic collapse, managing only 111 runs. Despite a promising start with openers Priyansh Arya (22 off 12) and Prabhsimran Singh (30 off 15) adding 39 runs in just over three overs, the innings unraveled rapidly. Harshit Rana's incisive spell (3/25) dismantled the top order, while spinners Sunil Narine (2/14) and Varun Chakaravarthy (2/21) tightened the noose. Anrich Nortje and Vaibhav Arora contributed with a wicket each, ensuring PBKS were bundled out for 111 runs.

Chasing a modest target, KKR's innings mirrored PBKS's earlier struggles. Early strikes by Marco Jansen and Xavier Bartlett reduced KKR to 7/2. Yuzvendra Chahal's exceptional spell (4/28) further decimated the middle order, and then the Knights got bundled out for just 95 runs.
With this, Punjab Kings have now defended the lowest total ever in the IPL history. They also registered the highest ever run chase in IPL against the same oppositions last year.
