LSG vs CSK: In Match 30 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) showcased their trademark grit and composure as they clinched a thrilling five-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at a packed venue on Monday night.
The turning point? A vintage MS Dhoni cameo and his game-changing partnership with Shivam Dube that guided CSK home with three balls to spare.

Chasing 167 for victory, CSK looked in trouble at 111/5 in the 15th over after losing Vijay Shankar. But the legendary MS Dhoni, making his presence felt yet again, walked in with nerves of steel and a smile of assurance. What followed was a masterclass in pressure handling and finishing - Dhoni smashed an unbeaten 26 off just 11 balls, including two towering sixes and a four, reminding fans of his finishing prowess.
At the other end, Shivam Dube held his ground with remarkable maturity, scoring a fluent 43 off 37 balls. The duo stitched a crucial unbeaten stand that not only soaked up pressure but also accelerated at the right moments. Their partnership helped CSK recover from a precarious position and cross the finish line at 168/5 in 19.3 overs.
Earlier, CSK bowlers had kept things tight after opting to bowl first. Matheesha Pathirana (2/45), Noor Ahmad (0/13) and Ravindra Jadeja (2/24) delivered key blows, while young pacer Anshul Kamboj made a memorable mark by trapping the dangerous Nicholas Pooran lbw. The highlight in the field, however, was Dhoni's masterful work behind the stumps. The CSK captain became the first player in IPL history to complete 200 dismissals, reaching the milestone by stumping Ayush Badoni. He went on to take a sharp catch to remove Rishabh Pant for 63 and later effected a brilliant run-out of Abdul Samad.
LSG posted a competitive 166/7, thanks largely to Pant's return to form and his solid 49-ball 63. But in the end, it was Dhoni's all-round brilliance - with both gloves and bat - that stood out as the defining element of the night.
This win not only bolsters CSK's campaign with a victory after 5 losses but also reaffirms their belief in experience under pressure, especially with "Thala" Dhoni still proving to be the ultimate game-changer.
