LSG vs CSK IPL 2026: Why Was Rishab Pant Fined By BCCI In The Chennai Game?
Rishabh Pant has been fined INR 12 lakh after Lucknow Super Giants did not complete their overs on time against Chennai Super Kings in Match No. 59 of IPL 2026 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, with the IPL confirming a slow over-rate offence under its Code of Conduct.
The IPL Governing Council held Pant responsible in the role of captain, as leaders must ensure that their sides finish 20 overs within the set time, and because this was Lucknow Super Giants' first slow over-rate offence of the 2026 season, the penalty stayed at the basic figure laid out for initial breaches.

Why Was Rishab Pant Fined In LSG vs CSK Match?
The league stated that Pant had broken Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences and sets different fine levels depending on how many times a team is found guilty, while also making clear that further infringements can draw higher sanctions for captains and, in some cases, other team members.
In an official explanation of the decision, the IPL said: "Rishabh Pant, Captain, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match No. 59 of TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Friday." The statement further clarified: "As this was his team's first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined INR 12 lakhs."
