LSG vs DC Dream11 Prediction, IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants vs Delhi Capitals Fantasy Tips

By Aditya K Halder

LSG vs DC Dream11 prediction, IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals will kick off their Indian Premier League 2023 season with the latter also hosting their first-ever match at Lucknow's Ekana Sports City Stadium on Saturday (April 1). The match will start at 7:30 PM IST.

At a nascent but promising stage of their IPL career, Lucknow Super Giants will head into the game feeling confident against one of the title contenders as they won all their encounters but two against Delhi Capitals. The KL Rahul-led side, who reached the play-off stages last year, will be delighted to play their maiden game in front of the 50,000-capacity home crowd.

LSG vs DC injury update, key players

Lucknow Super Giants injury update: LSG will be without Mohsin Khan, a breakthrough fast bowler from last season, for the majority of the season with a shoulder injury. LSG are yet to name a replacement for the pacer, who took 14 wickets last season. LSG will also be without Quinton de Kock, and Anrich Nortje, who are currently playing for South Africa against the Netherlands in the home series.

LSG wicketkeeper: KL Rahul has point to prove

Dropping KL Rahul of your Dream11 team seems a no-brainer given his performance for the team last year. His T20 batting abilities, however, have come into question for the last year and have cost him his spot in India's T20 squad as well. However, his recent form with the bat in ODIs suggests that the LSG skipper will look to prove his doubters wrong.

LSG batter: Deepak Hooda or Kyle Mayers to open in absence of Quinton de Kock

With Quinton de Kock unavailable for the game, Deepak Hooda has been considered for the opening spot with Kyle Mayers also in the fray. The Indian batter couldn't score enough runs for India during the last T20 series against New Zealand last year. In his defence, Hooda didn't get to bat much batting down the order. Hooda, however, did score centuries during the domestic season for Rajasthan earlier in the year and had scored 450-plus runs for LSG last year.

Mayers has been in good form off late with a half-century against South Africa earlier this week. His Windies teammate Rovman Powell has been getting decent runs in the shortest format as well and played some good knocks for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League last month. Nicholas Pooran provides further firepower and has played some above-par innings off late but will like to convert them into big innings.

Manan Vohra and Ayush Badoni may get a look in after some big knocks in the domestic season. Badoni played 13 matches for LSG last season and scored 161 runs at an average of 20-plus.

LSG all-rounders: Marcus Stoinis having uneventful 2023

Expectations will be high for Marcus Stoinis among LSG all-rounders but his recent form has been a concern after a silent ODI series against India with the bat recently. The seam-bowling all-rounder had an uneventful 2023 so far. West Indies' Romario Shepherd, on the other hand, is coming into IPL after some power-hitting knocks down the order during the South Africa series and could be a sensible pick for the game. Daniel Sams is expected to be a utility all-rounder

Among their Indian all-rounders, Krunal Pandya and K Gowtham are two spin-bowling all-rounders. Krunal, who took 10 wickets in 14 games for LSG last year, hasn't played a domestic game in 2023 while K Gowtham played just four games for LSG last season.

LSG Bowlers: Avesh Khan expected to lead bowling attack

Taking 18 wickets for LSG last year, Avesh Khan will be leading the bowling attack once again. The express pacer starred in Madhya Pradesh's Ranji Trophy-winning campaign as well. With Mohsin Khan not around, Jaydev Unadkat is expected to play but his T20 credentials remain in doubt.

There's further pace prowess in Mark Wood, who recently toured Bangladesh with England and took three wickets in three games. The English pacer, who was bought for Rs 7.5 crore at IPL 2022 mega auction, got to play just one game due to injury last season and would be expected to live up to his pricetag. Afghan Naveen Ul-Haq adds to further overseas pace option.

Among spinners, Ravi Bishnoi had a decent domestic season and was an integral part of the side last year with 13 wickets in 14 games while veteran spinner Amit Mishra is likely to be a backup as he hasn't played a game in two IPLs.

Delhi Capitals injury update, key players

lsg-vs-dc-dream11-prediction-ipl-2023-match-4-2

Delhi Capitals will be without their star captain Rishabh Pant, who is recovering from the horrific crash from late last year. Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi are unavailable for this game as they are on South Africa duty.

Delhi Capitals: Sarfaraz Khan to be first-choice wicket-keeper

Pant's absence gives Sarfaraz Khan the opportunity to impress with plenty of eyes on the screen while his rich showing in the domestic season has been going unnoticed for a while now. Singed as a mere squad replacement, Abhishek Porel, along with Phil Salt, will be back up to Khan.

DC batters: David Warner, Prithvi Shaw expected to deliver

DC's new captain David Warner is enduring a bad patch in all formats of the game with no half centuries in the last 10 innings. But will be expected to deliver the goods for the name he carries in IPL 2023. His opening partner Prithvi Saw, on the other hand, could be a safer bet given the noise he made during the domestic season, including a rapid triple century against Assam.

Not part of the South African team, Rilee Rossouw, who was picked at the mini-auction for INR 4.60 crore, is also a smart choice. The southpaw notably has scored good amount of runs during the PSL for Multan Sultans.

Manish Pandey is likely to feature in the 11 as well but a question mark remains over his form for the season. Yash Dhull and Ripal Patel are likely to be backups.

DC all-rounder: Axar Patel, Mitchell Marsh in spotlight

Axar Patel and Mitchell Marsh's current forms make them obvious picks. The duo starred for their respective teams in the recently concluded India-Australia series with the former also donning the vice-captaincy cap. Local boy Lalit Yadav, who played 12 games last season, had an average outing for the Delhi Ranji side earlier this year.

DC bowlers: Pace lacks fire in absence of South African duo; Kuldeep Yadav leads spin

Delhi Capitals' bowling looks weak in absence of their two South African pacers as they will have to rely on Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman and team India's discards for the game. Rahman had a quiet Ireland series while Taskin Ahmed shone, likes of Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Chetan Sakariya haven't done much in the recent past worth talking about.

There's noise around Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar and Mumbai's Aman Khan as well. Mukesh bought for Rs 5.50 crore at the mini-auction while Khan has received rave reviews from coach Ricky Ponting. However, it's a hard guess if both or any of them will find a place in the team amid so many experienced IPL pacers in the team.

Among spinners, Kuldeep Yadav will be leading the spin charge with Lalit in support. The left-arm wrist spinner has taken 14 wickets in his last 10 white-ball games for India and was the star bowler of DC with 21 wickets last year.
