Lucknow Super Giants will commence the IPL 2023 campaign at their home ground as they host Delhi Capitals on Saturday (April 1).
In the second match of the first IPL 2023 doubleheader day, it promises to be a crunch encounter as the Super Giants will be taking the field at their home ground for the first time in their history. Both teams will be eager to kickstart their campaign with a victory.

LSG finished 3rd in the IPL 2022 and then, unfortunately, got eliminated by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, failed to qualify for the playoffs last year after finishing at the top of the table the year before (IPL 2021).
Lucknow Super Giants have formulated a decent squad and added some firepower in the latest auction as well. But they will be missing Quinton de Kock for the opener as the South African is on national duty.
Apart from that, the Caribbean duo Nicholas Pooran and Kyle Mayers have joined the squad and are expected to be among the contention for Saturday. LSG bowler Mohsin Khan is ruled out for the match as he recovers from an injury. Marcus Stoinis, Romario Shepherd will also be in the running for selection for the match against DC.

The capitals have appointed a new captain in David Warner as Rishabh Pant is unavailable for the entirety of the season. They also announced young wicketkeeper Abhishek Porel as Pant's replacement for the season.
They will be missing Mustafizur Rahman, Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje due to international duties.
The Delhi outfit have a strong overseas contingent despite missing the aforementioned trio. Mitchell Marsh, who demonstrated a fantastic batting display against India recently is available, so is the dangerous Proteas batter Rilee Rossouw. The Southpaw created records galore in the PSL and will be hoping to replicate that at the grandest stage.
Along with that, Indian players such as Mukesh Kumar, Sarfaraz Khan will be ready to perform and further bolster their India hopes. Prithvi Shaw is also going to be a pivotal part of this team.
