In Match 54 of IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders will be welcomed by Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday (May 5). This will be the first duel between them in Lucknow.
In their past four duels Lucknow has won three matches, the only games Knights have won was in this year, at the Eden Gardens.

The hosts and the visitors are placed third and second in the points table, respectively. KKR have seven wins so far and won their last two matches. The Super Giants are also having a good run, winning three out of their last four games.
LSG has successfully defended around 160 plus runs this season multiple times. The big ground often prevented the batters from getting sixes and as a result, it made the job easier for the bowlers to check them from posting huge scores.
The Lucknow side had defeated MI, CSK and GT in the same way in the recent past. But sometimes it also backfires, against a team with a good bowling squad.
Mohsin Khan, Yash Thakur and Naveen ul Haq will be the options for the pace attack and the spin department will be managed by Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya. Mayank Yadav will miss the remainder of the season due to injury.
After struggling to defend humongous scores at their home ground, KKR bowling made a comeback against DC and wrapped up their innings within 153 runs.
In the next match, they defeated MI by successfully defending just 169 at Wankhede Stadium and broke the 12-year-long curse. These two wins will certainly give huge boosts to the Knights' morale.
Harshit Rana will be back in this match after missing the last match due to suspension. Mitchell Starc also returned to form in the last match against MI. Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy are becoming more and more lethal in the middle overs. Chetan Sakariya might feature in this match in place of Vaibhav Arora.
Mohsin Khan (LSG): The 25-year-old UP-born youngster has been decent till now in this season. Though the left-arm medium-fast bowler has been expensive in some matches, he also managed to bag nine wickets in this IPL.
He will be the key to sending Narine back to the pavilion, as the Knight opener has been dismissed thrice by the left-arm paces this season. It is high time for him to step up as the main pacer of the team.
Yash Thakur (LSG): The 25-year-old Indian right-arm medium pacer has 10 wickets so far this season. The Kolkata-born fast bowler has been phenomenal against GT, with a five-wicket haul. In the absence of Mayank Yadav, LSG has to rely upon him against the in-form KKR batting line-up.
Sunil Narine (KKR): The legendary mystery man is back in this season with a bang. He is the most valuable player currently this season with his all-round performances. The 35-year-old Caribbean has bagged 13 wickets so far.
Narine and Chakravarthy will be a good matchup against the two LSG match-winners, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran. Stoinis has struggled against spin this season. It will be the duty of the right-arm spinner to create havoc on LSG middle order.
Harshit Rana (KKR): The 23-year-old has been the best pacer for the Knights this season. Despite missing a few matches due to injury and suspension, the right-arm fast bowler has managed to pick up 11 wickets till now. He is quite handy in the deathovers. Along with Mitchell Starc, his duty will be to devour the LSG top orders in the early overs of the innings.
The visitors will come with confidence after their last victory against MI. It will be the first-ever game for KKR at this venue which can be a disadvantage for the Knights in this match.
A win at this juncture will virtually secure the playoff spot for the Knights, while for the Super Giants, it will bring them at the same level as the second-placed visitors. Hence, a highly competitive battle can be expected from these two in-form teams in this Sunday evening clash.
