LSG vs PBKS: In a high-octane encounter between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2024, the emergence of a new Indian pace sensation, Mayank Yadav, stole the spotlight.
His formidable spell of 3/27, characterised by sheer pace and precision, played a pivotal role in LSG's commanding 21-run victory over PBKS at the Ekana Sports City in Lucknow on Saturday (March 30).

Opting to bat first, LSG posted a challenging total of 199/8, propelled by a late onslaught from Krunal Pandya, who blazed his way to a quickfire 43 off just 22 deliveries. Quinton de Kock's fluent 54 at the top of the order and Nicholas Pooran's aggressive 42 injected momentum into LSG's innings.
In response, PBKS launched a spirited chase, with Shikhar Dhawan's explosive 70 and Jonny Bairstow's brisk 42 laying a solid foundation. However, Mayank Yadav's ferocious pace and immaculate line and length wreaked havoc on PBKS' batting lineup. The young fast bowler consistently clocked speeds of 150 kmph and above, rattling PBKS' top order and ultimately finishing with figures of 3/27.
Despite Liam Livingstone's valiant unbeaten knock of 28, PBKS fell short of the target, managing to reach only 178/5 by the end of their innings.
Mayank Yadav's exceptional bowling performance earned him accolades as the standout performer of the match. His ability to consistently hit the deck hard and extract bounce from the surface troubled the PBKS batsmen throughout their innings. Notably, his delivery clocked at 155.8 kmph in the 12th over of the match was the fastest recorded ball in the tournament so far.
Overall, it was a thrilling contest marked by stellar performances, with Mayank Yadav's fiery bowling leading LSG to a well-deserved victory over PBKS. As the tournament progresses, Yadav's emergence as a potent pace weapon adds depth and potency to LSG's bowling arsenal.
