KL Rahul has been removed as the captain for today's IPL 2024 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings.
Just before the match, it was announced that KL Rahu won't be coming out to Toss. The Indian batter is coming to the IPL just recovering from an injury, and it was feared that the player may have injured himself again.

But the LSG player was seen wearing his gloves and bat ahead of the match, which raised the question of his captaincy role. And it has turned out that Lucknow has decided to play Rahul as an Impact Player for today's match, hence the India player was not out for Toss.
But amid Rahul's absence, many thought it would be Krunal Pandya who will have the leadership role, but that didn't happen. Pandya has experience of captaining Baroda in domestic cricket but the all-rounder was also snubbed.
West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran has been given the captaincy duties for the match. The former West Indies captain also explained that LSG team management is trying to ease KL Rahul into the tournament, which was the main reason why the Indian player is not captaining the team today.
LSG won the Toss and decided to Bat first. They have handed a debut to Mayank Yadav while young Tamil Nadu spinner Manimaran Siddharth is also playing today.
