LSG vs PBKS IPL 2024: Why KL Rahul is not captaining Lucknow Super Giants Today?

Lucknow Super Giants are up against Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024 match today (Saturday, March 30).

Just before the match, the news emerged that Nicholas Pooran will captain the LSG side, which created shock among the fans. KL Rahul was supposed to be injured, but when he was seen wearing gloves, the shock escalated.

LSG's newly appointed captain Nicholas Pooran explained that KL Rahul is not injured and he will be playing as an Impact Player. Pooran also explained that as KL Rahul was injured recently, the LSG team is easing the player into the tournament and don't want to take any risk which will aggravate his injury.

"KL is coming back from injury and we're looking to give him a break in such a long tournament, but he'll play as an impact player today. Everyone must take the opportunities and perform at their best," Pooran said at the Toss.

LSG won the Toss and decided to Bat first. It looks like that Rahul will be playing only as a batter and will not take the field.
