Punjab Kings dominated Lucknow Super Giants in their own territory and secured a comfortable victory by 8 wickets in the IPL 2025 on Tuesday (April 1).
With the victory, the Punjab outfit has registered two victories out of their first two matches, the fourth time in their history.

Lucknow's innings got off to a rocky start as Mitchell Marsh fell for a golden duck in the opening over. Aiden Markram tried to stabilize things with a brisk 28 off 18 but was undone by Lockie Ferguson. Rishabh Pant's poor form continued with a cheap dismissal for 2, leaving LSG struggling at 36/3 in the powerplay. Nicholas Pooran turned the tide with a counter-attacking 44, while Ayush Badoni anchored the innings with a steady 41 off 33. Their partnership helped LSG recover before Abdul Samad's explosive 26 off 10 lifted them to a fighting total of 171/7.
In reply, PBKS started well despite the early loss of Priyansh Arya. Prabhsimran Singh took charge with a blazing 23-ball 50 - the fastest ever at Ekana Stadium. His onslaught set the tone, and captain Shreyas Iyer (52* off 30), along with Nehal Wadhera (43* off 25), guided PBKS to a comfortable win with plenty to spare.
Rishabh Pant (LSG Captain): It (the total) wasn't enough, we were 20-25 runs short, but that's part and parcel of the game. Still assessing the conditions at our home ground. It's always going to be difficult to get a big total when you lose early wickets, but each and every player is trying hard to take the game forward. The idea was to get a slow wicket. I think the slower balls were sticking in. We got to learn from this game and move forward. There are a lot of positives, can't say much.
Shreyas Iyer (PBKS Captain): This is the start we required. Boys actually played their roles well, they contributed to the best of their ability, and whatever we planned, they executed it to the fullest. To be honest, there is no right combination. The camaraderie and synergy has to click at the right time. All teams have the potential to win the game, you just need to have a similar mindset of wanting to win - that is what we always talk about. I always try to be in the present and this innings is history for me, just want to focus on the next one now.
