The IPL 2025 has been suspended for one week due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the decision on May 9, citing national security concerns and the safety of players and spectators.

The suspension came after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala was abandoned midway due to a power outage, which coincided with reports of military activity in the region.
Additionally, the scheduled match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow was cancelled. LSG has confirmed that fans will receive full refunds for their tickets.
The BCCI is closely monitoring the situation and will decide on rescheduling the remaining matches based on consultations with relevant authorities. The safety of all stakeholders remains the top priority. But at the moment, the escalated tensions between India and Pakistan may further extend the hiatus.
The IPL 2025 was postponed for a week on May 9. It means, if the tournament starts after the current hiatus, the IPL shall resume on May 17.
If the IPL starts after a week, and the scheduling of matches remains the same as the old chronology, the Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru may lock horns on May 18. As the match between PBKS and DC was cancelled due to security reasons, the match was not counted, which means the resumed IPL action may have the unfinished match as the first encounter.
