Life hasn't been too kind to Rishabh Pant since his huge move to Lucknow Super Giants for the IPL 2025 season.
The Indian wicketkeeper-batter hasn't scored runs and has been struggling with his captaincy as well. Amid his struggle with the bat, Lucknow Super Giants are also in danger of getting eliminated from the tournament.

Pant, who was bought for Rs 27 crore in the mega auction last year has been mostly underwhelming for his team. Across the season, he has failed to score runs, and it was the same on Monday as well, when the southpaw was dismissed after scoring only seven runs. In total, he has managed only 135 runs this season in 12 matches with a paltry average of 12.8.
And a video has gone viral on social media, which showed LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka stroming out of the owners' balcony after Pant got dismissed. The Lucknow captain scored 7 off 6 balls before giving a simple catch to Eshan Malinga, and as the cameras panned to Goenka, he was miffed and left the balcony in anger.
Pant has been struggling the whole season, and his dismissal hasn't been taken well by the owner, it seems. Goenka, who has had his troubles with captains before, went all in for Pant in the auction. The former Delhi Capitals star was bought for a whopping record Rs 27 crore, but the return has been in pennies so far.
It is a fair thought that may come to mind for anyone. After spending Rs 27 crore, LSG will have to rethink their strategy for next season. Even if they qualify for the playoffs, Pant's performance has been awful so far, especially with the bat. Hence, there will be thoughts about releasing Pant, which will significantly free the funds for LSG, but will it be the case? That remains a question, and only time shall answer that.
The incident with KL Rahul is still vivid when the India star had a fallout with Goenka last season. After the IPL 2024 season, Rahul left the Super Giants and has now joined the Delhi Capitals.
