Luke Wright ready to be England Test all-rounder

By Super Admin

London, Oct. 24 (ANI): England's emerging all-rounder Luke Wright has said that he is ready to take Andrew Flintoff's place in the Test squad, but believes it's not right to make comparisons with Freddie.

The Sussex star has been a regular in England's Twenty20 and one-day sides for two years now, without previously being considered for the longest form of the game.

But the retirement of Flintoff left a massive hole, with the selectors plumping for Wright to fill it.

While he does not send down the same 90mph thunderbolts as Freddie, the Red Bull-fuelled cricketer still wants to put on a show.

He said: "When national selector Geoff Miller phoned me, I was sick in bed and missed the call. So, the heart was beating fast when I called him back. Being told I was in all three squads was a great moment."

"People will bring up Freddie but I hope they see it differently," The Sun quoted him, as saying.

"I can't go out thinking I can bowl at that pace from 6ft 4in or whatever Fred is, because I'm not built like that. I'm four inches shorter for a start! But I do believe I can become a Test match all-rounder." (ANI)
