Mumbai, Sep 24: After the sudden surge in his popularity due to his participation in the reality show 'Sach ka Saamna', cricketer Vinod Kambli has decided to start new political innings with the Third Front.
Vinod Kambli on Thursday, Sep 24 reportedly filed his nomination to contest the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Election from Vikhroli constituency.
The 37-year-old who is a candidate of Lok Bharati Party, made his intention to contest in the assembly elections public during a rally in Aug 2009.
In the rally, Kambli had said, "This is the same ground where I practiced day and night to get an entry into the Indian cricket team. Now, I am launching my political career from here and will definitely hit fours and sixes in the field of politics."
The cricketer-turned-politician who is a Dalit from Mumbai, is being projected as a pro-poor candidate.
