Maharashtra win by 8 wickets

Jaipur, Nov 17 (UNI) Maharashtra recorded an emphatic eight wicket victory over hosts Rajasthan on the third day of their four-day Ranji Trophy Super League Group A match at the KL Saini Stadium here today.

Maharashtra, who had drawn their opening tie against Tamilnadu, earned five points from this victory. Rajasthan has suffered the second consecutive defeat after having lost to Delhi.

Resuming at their overnight score of 160 for 3, the home team were all out for 303 despite a brilliant 99 runs (372m, 10x4) knock by Vinit Saxena and 60 runs by Gagan Khoda who had got retired hurt on 34 yesterday. Saxena and Rajesh Bishnoi (42, 147m 4x4) added 85 runs for the fourth wicket.

Veteran spinner Sairaj Bahutule was the most sucessful bowler for Maharashtra taking 4 for 6 followed by WS Sayyed with 3 for 68 and Munaf Patel with 2 for 76.

Maharashtra had then required 121 runs to win which they achieved losing only two wickets in 27 overs. KM Jadhav and Venugopal Rao remained unbeaten 37 and 45 runs respectively after More (12) and Khadiwale (19) were dismissed by Pankaj Singh who finished with 2 for 42.
