The picture of Gautam Gambhir's hilarious handshake moment with Shahid Afridi in the opening match of the Legends League Cricket 2023 at West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha has gone viral.

The star-studded T20 league has kickstarted with the match between India Maharajas led by Gambhir and Asia Lions led by Afridi on Friday, March 10. Despite dozens of stars featuring in the two line-ups, the duo stole the limelight in the very beginning of the match.

Coming face-to-face at the toss, the arch-rivals - who share a lot of history together - were involved in a hilarious or maybe an awkward handshake moment. In the picture which has gone viral now, a visibly disinterested Gambhir can be seen avoiding looking towards Afridi. The former Pakistan cricketer, on the other hand, can be seen leaning forward while firmly shaking hands with the southpaw and looking straight at him with a beaming smile.

The two fierce competitors in their playing days had heated on-field arguments on the field. Post their retirements as well, they have not shied away from taking shots at each other through comments on media and social media.

Well aware of fierce rivalry between the two icons of the game, thrilled fans stormed Twitter with hilarious reactions to the Gambhir-Afridi handshake moment. Let's have a look.

Opting to bat first, Lions scored 165 runs for the loss of six wickets in the match. Afridi scored 12 off 8 balls. Upul Tharanga and Misbah-Ul-Haq top-scored with 40 and 73 runs respectively.

The likes of Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa, Mohammad Kaif, Irfan Pathan, Murali Vijay and Stuart Binny are featuring in the playing XI of the first match.
