Mallya rubbishes Pawar-RCB links as 'absurd'

By Samyuktha

New Delhi, Jun 8: Ridiculing the latest twist in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) saga that Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has a stake in his franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) owner Vijay Mallya dubbed the reports 'absurd'

To Pawar's admission that he has 0.5 per cent shares in the United Breweries Group (UB Group), Mallya said, Mallya said, "Pawar is just being transparent because then the media would say he has stake in another IPL team."

The liquor baron was referring to the earlier speculations on Pawar's involvement in a failed bid for the Pune IPL team

"If we follow this logic then every shareholder of United Breweries would be the owner of RCB because the company belongs to the shareholders. What's wrong with that?" he questioned, adding, "This is pushing the limits of absurdity."
