Mandira Bedi's sarees with cricket themes to be auctioned online
New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) So far Mandira Bedi's outfits have been provoking intense discussions and now, ahead of the World Cup, special sarees with cricket themes worn by the queen of cricket's foofaraw will be up for grabs on the internet.
Thanks to the Cricket Mania Campaign launched here today by leading online market place eBay, the ''Bowled on the Runway'' collection would be auctioned online and buyers can lay their fingers on any five of the sarees on offer.
With the cricket fever all set to reach the crecendo, the collection hits the market and the buyers can pick from a red saree with the seam of a cricket ball in its 'pallu', another made of strewn national flags of the participating nations, one bearing the signatures of the game's prima donnas, another with cricket caricatures and the fifth one with cricket score and cricket news headlines from newspapers.
''This is a unique collection and though I have worn Satya Paul sarees on several occasions, this one clearly stands out because of its sheer novelty,'' gushed Mandira, decked in a cream saree with the signatures of the likes of Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara on it.
The entire proceeds from the auction of the sarees would go to the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, informed eBay India Country Manager Rajan Mehra.
Urging its two million strong community to root for the Indian cricket team in the World Cup, eBay promised freebies like a ''Go India Go'' wristband, cricket VCD, balls autographed by Mandira and Sachin Tendulkar's autographed biography with transactions.
''I love the sarees and if any one of these prove lucky, I'll be sticking to it right till the end,'' Mandira said.
