Manohar becomes President-elect of BCCI

New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) Shashank Manohar, a vice president from the Central Zone and a close confidante of BCCI chief Sharad Pawar, was today declared elected as President Elect of the Board.

Manohar, a leading lawyer from Nagpur and representing the Vidarbha Cricket Association, was elected unopposed ahead of tomorrow's Annual General Meeting (AGM).

''There was only one nomination received for the post of President Elect and Shashank Manohar is declared elected as President Elect,'' a press release by Board Secretary Niranjan Shah said.

The election cleared the way for Manohar to take over as BCCI chief in June next year once current incumbent Pawar leaves office to take up the job of ICC chief.

Manohar is the first President-elect of the apex cricket body of the country.

The BCCI had introduced the new concept of President-elect through a special annual general meeting earlier this year and the proposal was passed unanimously.
