South Africa all-rounder Marco Jansen has credited Punjab Kings teammate Arshdeep Singh for playing a key role in helping him adapt to the Indian Premier League during the 2025 season.
Speaking to SuperSport, Jansen revealed that Arshdeep was the first Indian player to reach out to him during the tournament and offer guidance as he settled into the PBKS setup.

"Arshdeep Singh was the first Indian player to reach out and answer my questions in details during the last IPL. He really wanted me to do well, he helped me a lot in giving information," Jansen said.
The South African left-arm pacer enjoyed a productive campaign with Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, picking up 16 wickets as the franchise reached the final. His new-ball partnership with Arshdeep became one of PBKS's key strengths, combining Jansen's bounce with Arshdeep's swing to trouble opposition batters early in the innings.
Fans recently revisited that partnership after Jansen produced a standout spell of 4/22 against India, with many suggesting the confidence and tactical awareness he developed during the IPL contributed to his success.
Marco Jansen was bought by Punjab Kings for ₹7 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction. The South African all-rounder signed a multi-year deal with the franchise and is set to continue representing PBKS in the 2026 season for the same price.
Standing at 2.06 metres, Jansen brings a rare combination of height, seam movement and lower-order hitting. Before joining Punjab Kings, he spent three seasons with Sunrisers Hyderabad between 2022 and 2024.
At PBKS, he quickly formed a strong rapport with the team's Indian pace spearhead Arshdeep Singh. The pair frequently shared new-ball duties, celebrating early breakthroughs together as Punjab mounted one of their most competitive campaigns in recent years.
Punjab Kings are expected to retain both players heading into IPL 2026, with the franchise entering a new phase under captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting.
