The partnership of 171 on Sunday is the highest for any wicket in the history of T20Is. The previous best was 170, also for the opening wicket in 2009, between Graeme Smith and Loots Bosman of South Africa.

Pakistan, opting to bat first, scored 168/7 in 20 overs. In reply, the hosts completed the run chase in 17.4 overs without losing a wicket. The Man-of-the-match was shared by both record-breakers Guptill and Williamson.
