Australia great Matthew Hayden has picked India squad for the World Cup 2023 and left both the wrist spinners - Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal - from it. In fact, the former opener hasn't picked any specialist spinner in the squad and entrusted all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel to do the job for the Men in Blue.
Further, the two-time World Cup-winner, has named a strong middle-order with both Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav featuring in it. Fast-bowling all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur also find a place in India's World Cup squad picked by Hayden.

The 15-member team named by Hayden has three wicketkeeper-batters KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson in it. Pacer trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj also found a place.
Reacting to Chahal's omission from India's Asia Cup 2023 squad, Hayden had recently called the leg-spinner a "superb" player, adding that the decision to drop him would have been tough for the selectors. Kuldeep Yadav has been named alongside left-arm spinners Jadeja and Axar in India's Asia Cup squad.
“There are some big omissions. Chahal in particular, that leg-spinner is such a superb player and (it) must be tough for the selectors because they've also got another one in Kuldeep (Yadav).... he's a superb player. So, they've gone for that as an option,” Hayden had said.
