Mayank Yadav, India's latest pace sensation, has taken the IPL 2024 by storm and his performance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy gave a massive boost to his credentials on Tuesday, April 2.
The 21-year-old from Delhi achieved a rare feat in the IPL after helping his team Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) win by 28 runs against RCB. The Faf du Plessis-led side were off to a good start while chasing 182, but they were rattled as soon as Mayank sent Glenn Maxwell packing in the sixth over.

Mayank Yadav went on to pick the wickets of Cameroon Green and Rajat Patidar as well to finish with figures of 3/14 in four overs. The impressive numbers helped him become the first player in IPL history to win Man of the Match awards in the first two matches of his career in the star-studded T20 league.
In his IPL debut against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, Mayank Yadav dismissed Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh and Jitesh Sharma to register figures of 3/27 in four overs.
Notably, Punjab were cruising at 102/0 in 11.3 overs when the speedster picked three wickets and left them reeling at 139/3 in 15.4 during the 200-run chase.
The right-arm fast bowler bowled the fastest delivery of the IPL 2024 against Punjab Kings. He bowled a delivery at 155.8 KMPH to Shikhar Dhawan. Mayank broke his own record against RCB by clicking 156.7 KMPH on the speedometer. Overall, the delivery is the fourth fastest in the history of IPL.
The youngster has made his ambition to play for India clear, and fans have even started to demand his inclusion in India's squad for the upcoming T20 World cup 2024.
"Feel really good, two Player of the Match awards in two matches. I am happier that we won both the matches. My goal is to play for the country. I feel this is just the start. I enjoyed Cameron Green's wicket the most,” Mayank said after the setting the IPL speed gun of fire in Bengaluru.
