MCA Stadium in Pune will stage it's first-ever ODI World Cup match on Thursday (October 19) when in-form hosts India take on neighbours Bangladesh in match 17 of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023.
India led by Rohit Sharma come into the match on the back of a perfect start, having won three in three, while Shakib Al Hasan's Bangladesh, who opened their campaign with a win over, are fresh from back-to-back defeats.

The Men in Blue have registered comprehensive wins over Australia, Afghanistan and Pakistan on different kind of surfaces, while Bangladesh, who beat Afghanistan on a challenging wicket, have since lost to England and New Zealand on pitches that have favoured their opposition batters.
Weather has not interrupted both India and Bangladesh's matches so far in the World Cup, but the South Africa vs Netherlands match was curtailed after rain delayed start in Dharamsala. However, the same may not be the case in Pune.
The venue in Pune has produced some high-scoring games. And the heat in the afternoon could play a factor. So, how will the weather and pitch conditions be for IND vs BAN clash in Pune? Will rain have an impact? Will dew be a factor in the match?
With some parts of India witnessing showers due to the retreating monsoon, here is a look at the Pune weather forecast and the MCA Stadium pitch report for IND vs BAN 17th ICC World Cup match:
There is no threat of rain in Pune on Thursday (October 19) or in the lead up to match. It is expected to be a sunny day with temperatures touching 32° C in the noon, reducing to 25° C at the closing stages.
Unlike many other venues, dew is unlikely to have an impact in the games in Pune, meaning the team chasing is not going to have an extra advantage. But, how is the Pune wicket going to play?
There are 11 pitches, all prepared using black soil, in the MCA Stadium in Pune. However, only 4 of the 11 wickets will be used for the 5 World Cup 2023 matches. The black soil wickets offer more bounce and remain the same for most part of the match.
5 of the 7 previous ODI matches at the venue have seen teams post over 300 runs when batting first. Even the teams chasing have posted over 300 in three of the seven innings so far, showing the batting friendly nature of the pitches in Pune. The average first innings score at the venue in 307.
Although the venue has not hosted an ODI since March 2021, MCA Stadium has played host to several T20I fixtures and IPL matches, which have seen quick or seam bowlers find some joy compared to slower bowlers having an effect in the other venues.
Over the years, teams batting first have had the edge with 4 wins to the 3 won by the team chasing. However, the captains will be tempted to chase despite the previous history as 300+ targets have been chased down twice in the three attempts so far.
