Meet Sanjay Bangar’s Daughter: Trans Cricketer Anaya Alleges Physical Harassment & Deeply Toxic Sports Culture
Anaya Bangar, child of former India cricketer Sanjay Bangar, has bravely stepped forward to unravel a hidden side of cricket that many may find hard to digest. Her story is not one of glossy victories or the iconic moments, but of a young cricketer’s struggle against a toxic and unforgiving culture that clings to outdated, harmful ideals.
Born Aryan, Anaya’s life has undergone a dramatic transformation, from gender-affirming surgery to the courageous decision to live her truth. But as she carved her path in the world of cricket, the journey has been nothing short of a battleground.

In a candid interview with Lallantop, Anaya pulled back the curtain on the harassment she faced, from unsolicited nude photos to shocking propositions from players she once looked up to.
A Legacy Under Fire: Anaya Bangar's Struggle
Growing up with the shadow of her father, Sanjay Bangar, looming large, Anaya’s path to cricket was not without its challenges. But it was when she transitioned that the real hurdles appeared. What should have been a celebration of authenticity quickly turned into a nightmare of harassment. From teammates sending inappropriate photos to being publicly humiliated, Anaya was faced with both acceptance and abuse.
The Dark Reality of a "Gentleman's Game"
When most think of cricket, they picture camaraderie, strategy, and fair play. But for Anaya, the sport was a microcosm of toxic masculinity. She recalled how one cricketer would hurl insults at her in public, only to later sit beside her and ask for personal photos. A truly bizarre and disturbing dynamic that seemed to show how deeply entrenched disrespect is in some parts of the game.
The Disturbing Encounter with a Veteran Cricketer
One of the most shocking revelations came when Anaya shared a conversation with a veteran cricketer, where he tried to turn a moment of vulnerability into an exploitative proposition. She recalled:
"The person used to give gaalis in front of everybody. The same person then used to come and sit beside me and ask for my photos. There was another instance, when I was in India, I told a puraane (veteran) cricketer about my situation. He told me let's go in the car, I want to sleep with you."
Living now in Manchester and with a strong presence on Instagram, Anaya continues to share her story. She is a powerful voice calling out toxic behavior and demanding change.
Her journey is a testament to resilience, but it also serves as a loud, unapologetic plea for transformation in the world of sports, where inclusivity and respect should be as important as victory.
Anaya Bangar has truly turned the tables on silence, and in doing so, she’s not just changing her own destiny, but perhaps the future of cricket itself.
