MI vs CSK: What happened when Mumbai Indians played against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023

MI vs CSK: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won both their matches against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2023. In the last match between the two sides at the MA Chidambaram (Chepauk) in Chennai, CSK defeated MI by six wickets (14 balls remaining).

Chennai elected to field first against Mumbai, and restricted them to 139/8 in 20 overs. Mumbai Indians lost all their top-three batters for a single-digit score. Deepak Chahar picked Ishan Kishan (7) and Rohit Sharma for a duck. Opener Cameron Green was clean bowled by Tushar Deshpande.

It was then that Nehal Wadhera (64) and Suryakumar Yadav (26) partnered for 55 runs off 46 balls. Ravindra Jadeja broke the partnership by castling the stumps of Suryakumar Yadav. Wadhera was clean bowled by Matheesha Pathirana. Tristan Stubbs scored 20 off 21. Man of the Match Pathirana picked three wickets, while Chahar and Deshpande picked two wickets apiece.

Chennai Super Kings chased down the target in 17.4 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad (30) and Devon Conway (44 off 42) forged a 46-run partnership off 26 balls. Ambati Rayudu came as an impact substitute and scored 12 off 11 balls. Ajinkya Rahane batted at three and scored 21 off 17. Shivam Dube (26*) and MS Dhoni (2*) remained unbeaten.

In the first match between the two sides in the IPL 2023, CSK defeated Mumbai by seven wickets (11 balls remaining). Chennai opted to bowl first once again and restricted Mumbai to 157/8 in 20 overs.

Ishan Kishan top-scored for Mumbai with 21-ball 32. Tim David scored 31 runs off 22 balls. Rohit Sharma (21) and Tilak Varma (22). Ravindra Jadeja picked three wickets, while Mitchell Santner and Tushar Deshpande chipped in with two wickets each.

Chennai chased down the target in 18.1 overs. Devon Conway was clean bowled by Jason Behrendorff, before Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 40 off 36, and Ajinkya Rahane scored a blazing 60 off 27. Dube scored 28 off 26, while Rayudu again came as an impact substitute and scored 20 off 16. Ravindra Jadeja was named Man of the Match for his figures of 3/20.
